Instructions: Measure your motorcycle correctly and find the right size of covers
If your motorcycle is converted or you couldn’t find it in our size recommendations, then use our step-by-step guide to find the right covers size by measuring your motorcycle.
Info: Accessories such as tank bags, exhaust systems, footrest extensions, booster seats, crash bars, crash pads, axle protectors and similar conversions fit under the covers and do not usually have to be measured separately. Unless they exceed one of the maximum values to be measured.
The official specifications of the manufacturers are always without license plate holder, mirrors and without windshield.
Better measure yourself to be on the safe side!
Here’s how you do it:
Step 1: Position the motorcycle correctly
- Place your motorcycle on the side stand and not on the main stand so that the rear height can be measured correctly.
- Straighten the handlebars. If necessary, use a wedge or hammer on the tire to hold it in place
The whole thing should then look something like this:
Step 2: Measure motorcycle correctly
Now measure and write down the following dimensions of your vehicle:
- Maximum length
- Maximum front width (handlebar or mirror)
- Maximum front height (mirror or pane)
- Rear height (incl. sissy bar, topca carrier etc.)
- Rear width (please also measure the side license plate holder and side cases)
Rear height including top case: Please measure the rear height with the top case fitted if you park with it permanently or store your vehicle with it over the winter.
When measuring the height values, make sure that the folding rule and the vehicle are positioned perpendicular to the ground. A little tip: If you sit on the vehicle or hold it straight, especially with choppers, you can measure more easily.
Use the charts below to guide your measurement. Hold your folding rule at the same angle as the marks positioned on the diagrams.
Total length
Tail height
Maximum front height
Maximum front width
Maximum rear width
Then use the following tables to find the right size.
Step 3: Compare your measurements with the dimensions of the MYCOVER® Motorcycle covers
Tip: The dimensions given in the tables are the maximum dimensions of our products.
Understanding table values correctly:
- Length/front width: Your vehicle measurements must be smaller than the values given in the table. This ensures that a vehicle fits under the tarpaulin.
- Height front/height rear: Your vehicle measurements should be approximately equal to or greater than the values given in the table. To prevent the tarpaulin from resting on the floor, the elastic band does the rest for you.
A little tip on ground clearance:
If you calculate the difference between the vehicle height and the height of the covers, you can roughly estimate how much ground clearance the tarpaulin will have. A ground clearance of 5 to 7 cm is often suitable so that the tarpaulin extends approximately to the edge of the wheel rim.
If you can live with it visually, there’s nothing technically wrong with more ground clearance. If in doubt, opt for more ground clearance than a surface-mounted covers. However, the brake disk should not be visible.

Note on top case sizes (+ TC):
+ TC are our top case sizes. Only buy for vehicles with top case fitted. Please measure the rear height with the top case fitted if you park with it permanently or store your vehicle with it over the winter.
