Frequently asked questions about the MYCOVER® Outdoor Motorcycle covers
Which outdoor Motorcycle covers size is right for my motorcycle?
Our outdoor Motorcycle cover is available in over 30 sizes, specially adapted to more than 2,000 motorcycle models. Use the size finder to find the right outdoor cover for your model, whether with top case, side cases or short holder.
Why does the MYCOVER Premium Outdoor Motorcycle covers cost more than other covers?
Because it can do more and lasts longer. Most outdoor motorcycle tarpaulins only offer simple rain protection. Our MYCOVER® Premium was developed because that wasn’t enough for us: After 9 worn tarpaulins in 3 years, it was clear that we needed real value retention.
Our outdoor motorcycle cover provides reliable protection against rain, UV, frost and scratches. Thanks to tear-resistant special fabric with double nano coating, soft inner fleece, reflective seams and over 10 protective functions. Handmade – instead of disposable.
Conclusion: A weatherproof Motorcycle cover that really protects, is durable and fits perfectly.
Why does an outdoor Motorcycle cover need a license plate window?
Because it is required by law: According to § 10 Para. 2 FZV and § 23 Para. 1 StVO, your license plate must remain visible outdoors even under a Motorcycle covers, otherwise you could be warned.
Our outdoor Motorcycle cover has an integrated viewing window, so you are on the safe side legally and can invest the money for fines in your next refueling stop.
Does an outdoor Motorcycle cover protect against theft?
An outdoor motorcycle tarpaulin alone does not prevent theft, but it does make it much more difficult. The MYCOVER® cover protects you from prying eyes and provides security openings for your lock on the front and rear wheel.
In combination with a high-quality lock – e.g. from ABUS– your outdoor Motorcycle cover becomes an effective anti-theft device. Privacy plus security = double protection.
Does the Motorcycle cover protect against scratches?
Yes, our outdoor motorcycle cover has a soft inner lining that reliably protects paintwork and sensitive parts. Important: Only apply to clean vehicles. Dirt particles can otherwise cause damage when moving, regardless of the outdoor motorcycle cover.
Our tip: Give your Motorcycle cover a quick clean, put it on and ensure it retains its value.
What is the best way to put the motorcycle cover on my motorcycle?
So your outdoor Motorcycle covers fit properly:
- Position at the front: Spread out the tarpaulin, pull the front over the mirrors and handlebars, then put it over the front wheel.
- Lay over the seat: spread out the tarpaulin in the middle and walk to the rear.
- Fix at the rear: Pull over the license plate and rear wheel – done.
Thanks to the handles and precise cut, pulling on your outdoor motorcycle cover is quick and tangle-free.
What prevents the Outdoor Motorcycle covers from being blown away by the wind?
Thanks to two safety straps and an elastic hem, our outdoor motorcycle tarpaulin is windproof on the vehicle, front and rear. The precise cut prevents flapping, friction and the risk of tipping in storms.
Only a well-fitting outdoor Motorcycle covers provide reliable protection, even in gusts of wind.
How do I care for the Motorcycle covers properly?
Important to avoid damaging the double nano-coating of the Motorcycle covers: Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning.
We recommend wiping the Motorcycle covers mainly with lukewarm water only. Alternatively, you can use specially developed products such as the SolarWash Spray-On for gentle cleaning and the SolarProof waterproofing spray to refresh the water-repellent effect.
- The Outdoor Motorcycle Cover must not be left on the ground to dry.
- We recommend using two outdoor chairs or a long clothesline.
- Improper drying, e.g. using clothespins (sharp edges), a dryer or similar, can damage the Motorcycle covers. Be careful when cleaning the license plate viewing window (prone to scratching).
How do I get the Outdoor Motorcycle cover back into the transport bag properly?
Your outdoor motorcycle tarpaulin can be stowed away to save space, but it is important that it is clean and completely dry. Dirt or moisture can otherwise cause mold.
Tip: When folding, start with the license plate window so that it is not creased. Then roll it up evenly and place it in the bag provided.
PDF instructions for folding can be found here.
What should I look out for when comparing outdoor Motorcycle covers?
A good outdoor Motorcycle covers not only protects against rain, but above all against rust, UV, dirt and scratches.
Important features:
- Waterproof & breathable – against rust and condensation
- UV-resistant – protects paint, rubber and plastic
- Heat protection & cold stability – for summer and winter
- Soft inner fleece – against scratches
- License plate window – required by law (§10 FZV)
- Reflectors – for more visibility in the dark
- Good fit – with elastic hem & straps against wind
- Dirt-repellent coating – easier to clean
- Can also be used indoors – e.g. in the garage to protect against dust and scratches

Before that, I had already worn out three covers. The last one hadn’t even lasted 3 months before the seams came undone…. From the outdoor we have already bought the second, first for my sports bike and now for my brother’s touring bike. If you want premium, you will not get past Mycover, absolutely top!

Have a BMW 1250 GS and for this vehicle bought a XL+ hood from Mycover.
Today after 2 years I can say that the quality, durability and robustness as described by Mycover is true.
I unfortunately have no garage and my bike is always on the same forecourt at the house in the blazing sun, (plastic parts on the GS).
already bleached out slightly because of the blazing sun.
My hood should be at least UV-resistant, breathable, robust, so all wishes fulfilled.
My motorcycle had survived the whole winter and summer without moisture and UV damage, so, I can confirm for myself that this is
is an excellent product that I had wanted for a very long time.
Previously I had bought ( 5 different) protective covers, including one from BMW, but all did not fulfill my purposes or only to a limited extent.
Thank you, Mycover!

BMW S1000XR 2015 - Fits like a second skin 1A++ of quality
Size: XL+
I have had many tarpaulins, very expensive and very cheap. The only difference so far what the price, but the quality felt always the same garbage bag. I heard about MyCover from a buddy who lives in HH (I’m PI myself *sorry*) 🙂
The XL+ tarp fits my BMW S1000XR like a glove. The fabric and stitching are of the finest quality. Even in strong winds (today is storm in HH and PI 29.01.2022), the tarp remains very stable on the machine and does not flutter a bit (I’m looking out the window right now). Heavy rain can the tarp off without any problems and the moped remains absolutely dry. The typical problem with condensation has not reoccurred with me so far. Now if the UV resistance is also as good as the rest, this is the best tarp you can buy. I definitely recommend your product. Ps. The bag is really awesome !

Top quality, premium cover and price / performance 1A

The cover from MyCover in size XL+ is made for my BMW F850 GS. After many “cheap” covers, which lasted at most 1 year and never promised what the manufacturer stated, I came to MyCover. Price / performance is TOP here, the quality of the hood is perfect and it keeps what it promises. Wind and weather cannot harm it, the motorcycle stays dry and it is optimally protected against any environmental influences. In addition, the lacquer is optimally protected by soft inner material against scratches and holograms during application/removal. At night, if the motorcycle is not on your own property, it is perfectly illuminated by the attached reflectors, so you can not miss them. Shipping was super fast and the hood came neatly delivered. I am really very excited and glad that my bike is now so well protected outside. I can only recommend it to every motorcycle lover to get such a hood!

Moto Guzzi V7 850 ccm Stone, 2024
Fits and protects!

I bought the Covers for my new Guzzi V7 in April because it currently spends a lot of time outdoors 😉
The tarpaulin fits (almost) perfectly and is easy to throw on.
I’m almost writing this because I have a little too little play in two places when mounting my Guzzi:
Due to the exhaust pipes, which are quite far out at the end, you have to tighten a little more at the rear when you pull the tarpaulin over the license plate holder and the rear tire. And the fact that I have upward-facing handlebar end mirrors also leads to a little more tension on the mirror corners of the tarpaulin when you park the Motorcycle with the handlebar lock engaged.
But that only minimally detracts from the overall impression!
I can only recommend the tarpaulin so far and hope that it will continue to do its job reliably over the coming fall and winter.

First of all, the online service is really good and I have the impression that it is a really high-quality cover. I can really recommend it to any motorcycle fan.
The only thing I can’t manage so well is folding the cover, but it fits well into the top case with my folding technique. Despite the instructions, I can’t manage the folding technique as well as the professionals here.

Marketing on the net 1+ with *
Well, if you’re looking for a really robust all-weather Cover for a used motorcycle that’s been kept in mint condition and spoiled in the garage, you can’t avoid MyCover praise like Caesar in ancient Rome.
Normally I am little or hardly impressed by this, it is not for nothing that those who “stand out the loudest
, advertise” need it, because otherwise the product cannot convince the man/woman with convincing quality and functionality.
Didn’t have much time, bought the machine, had already disposed of the old tarpaulin, had to quickly get something new, usable, especially because rain was announced.
I ride all year round, in almost any weather and on almost any terrain.
However, a machine does not have to be left outside to rot away unprotected.
The wind blows rainwater out of every crack as far as possible.
When stationary, rainwater remains where it cannot run off and begins to corrode the materials, especially the steel.
Not only does it look bad, but it can have long-term consequences and be expensive.
The service is of course beyond criticism.
Already helpful in the impressive choice of sizes.
I already thought it was remarkable.
The Husky TR is one of the so-called “dual machines”.
Not a real Enduro, but it can also be used off-road, so it is significantly higher and wider than a simple road moped…
The parcel arrived a few days later.
In a relatively small, laptop-like cover, I was quite surprised at first.
Quite small, little material, thought it was one of those thin windsail tarpaulins that you can see through, like a cheap rain cap.
The first material test could not confirm this, at least not in advance, but I was still quite skeptical, because the material is significantly lighter, simply less solid compared to the Louis Superior.
The Superior had already proven itself all year round and is quite robust and weather-resistant.
However, it is nowhere near as precise a fit as MYCOVER® and in windy conditions it is like a sail and in rain it forms “water pockets”.
And comparatively heavy compared to the relatively light and easier to handle MYCOVER® version.
Shortly before a forecast rain shower, I put on the Husky for the first time in the dark at night.
Wow, resembles a body-hugging stretch suit, so fits perfectly without a centimeter of play.
The only thing that prevents the perfect marketing cover image in its original condition is the inclined angle of the handlebars/lock/retired position.
Possibly the future evolutionary step towards perfection for real everyday life, in which quite probably EVERY machine standing outside is in secure steering lock mode.
My previous machine, which was involved in an accident, no longer had a steering lock.
Despite the obvious solid AbusSchloẞ chain, it was simply broken stupidly…
Remains simply removed with an angle grinder, so it could no longer be broken.
And it can also be pulled really deep over the wheels, so that the motorcycle type cannot be quickly recognized by the spoked wheels and tires.
NumberSignWindow is generally emphasized.
I’d prefer it without.
It is best not to see anything at all under the Covers.
Whether black is the ideal color choice, I’ll leave it up to you: it really draws the sun’s rays and heats up unnecessarily in summer, and I would tend to prefer reflective material.
Despite the tight fit, they are easy to handle and can be pulled over or rolled down again.
In comparison, I also like 2 instead of just one strap with a plug-in connection to connect them under the motorcycle.
Otherwise I only know one such connection U that is also good for oversized tarpaulins to give the wind enough space to remove them from the motorcycle or possibly even throw them over in strong winds.
In the” MyCoverStretchSuit” quite
unlikely…
Personally, it is also important to me that it dries quickly and easily after rain, is simple and easy to handle and can also be cleaned easily from time to time.
With the original pack size, I even thought about taking it with me when traveling.
But it is not one of the lightest Covers.
And when traveling, you also look at the weight.
If it can actually be folded back into the original pack size relatively easily, it’s still definitely worth considering.
False parachute jumpers also spend a lot of time at the beginning to lay their paraglider perfectly in the bag for transportation.
Then I can probably do the same with the tarpaulin.
I was and still am skeptical about the extent to which it will actually stand the test of time for over 150 euros.
Therefore 4 instead of the usual spoiled 5 stars.
Louis Superior is definitely a similar contender, which has already proven itself with 8 out of 10, at least for me.
Hope u suspect MyCover still goes over it.
But she still has to prove that.
Price quite reasonable, especially compared to other Covers offered on the net.
I would still set the limit for this tarpaulin at 150 euros.
I can’t tell, because as an end consumer I don’t really care whether it’s hand-sewn like an old original SiouxMocasin shoe or mass-produced by top machines and therefore probably cheaper.
Nevertheless, respect and esteem for all those who have worked on creating such a tarpaulin and also for all those interested in offering high quality on the market…
